Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

A Promising Start to Your Parenthood Journey with IUI

At Origins, we recognize the bravery and optimism required to seek assistance in your fertility journey. For numerous couples and individuals, Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) provides a gentle, cost-effective, and well-structured approach to conception. It frequently serves as the initial step toward creating the family you have envisioned, and we are here to accompany you on that journey.

Who Should Consider IUI?

IUI is particularly suitable for:

  • Couples facing unexplained infertility
  • Males experiencing mild sperm issues, known as oligoasthenoteratozoospermia
  • Women with at least one functional fallopian tube
  • Couples who have undergone several unsuccessful timed intercourse attempts
  • Individuals seeking a low-intervention entry point into fertility care

Note: IUI is not advisable for women with a bilateral tubal obstruction. At least one fallopian tube must be open for IUI to yield effective results.

What is IUI and How Does It Work?

IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) is a cost-effective fertility treatment that involves the direct placement of specially processed sperm into the uterus during ovulation. This procedure enhances the likelihood of sperm reaching the egg, thereby increasing the chances of natural fertilization. At Origins, IUI is frequently suggested for couples experiencing mild fertility issues or for those seeking a more affordable and less invasive alternative prior to exploring IVF options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Women possessing one open fallopian tube, couples experiencing unexplained infertility, those with mild male factor infertility, or individuals who have undergone multiple unsuccessful TI cycles qualify. IUI is not appropriate for situations where both tubes are blocked.

Before initiating IUI, a tubal patency test, hormonal evaluation, and ovarian reserve analysis are performed.

Not in the least. It is a swift, outpatient process — as standard as an ultrasound examination, with no associated pain or side effects.

We have a 10% success rate for each cycle, and up to 30% success over three consecutive cycles.

Typically, between 3 and 6 cycles are necessary. Success tends to plateau after 6 cycles.

  • The timing of insemination (preferably within 24 hours post-ovulation)
  • The count and motility of sperm
  • Lifestyle factors such as exercise, diet, and stress management
  • The functionality of the fallopian tubes

Although IUI has a lower success rate compared to IVF, it is significantly less invasive and more cost-effective — making it an excellent initial choice for many.

  • Processing of semen (washing) to separate the healthiest sperm
  • IUI guided by ultrasound for precise timing and placement

With more than 13 years of expertise, our fertility specialists have effectively assisted countless couples in achieving conception through IUI, merging empathy with clinical proficiency.
